TRB Links

Here is a smorgasboard of websites that have quite a bit to do with the ZX Spectrum, some more than others. Not very exciting, but then again, how do you make a list of URLs zing? Never mind...

In theory, this list should get updated on a semi-irregular basis. If you do find that one of these links doesn't work, please let me know via the Contacts page.

Essential Spectrum Resources:
  • World of Spectrum - if you've ever looked, touched or just played on a Speccy, visit this site.
  • The Tipshop - stuck on a game? After a POKE? (ooer). Try The Tipshop.
  • Speccy Spoilers - want to see the end of a game you've never been able to complete? Try Speccy Spoilers and you may just be lucky
  • ZX Maps - A very useful site which contains lots of Spectrum game maps made up of actual screen shots.

Original Spectrum print magazines:
Spectrum programmers:
Commercial Spectrum / Spectrum-related sites:
  • Cronosoft - software company which sells new games for the Spectrum, C64, BBC and other old 8bit machines.
  • Retro*Gamer - Retro*Gamer magazine - the UK's only news-stand magazine for Retro gamers

Other Spectrum sites of note:
  • Ian's Homepage - fellow Amigan Ian is the creator of ASp Speccy emulator and also a couple of other useful snippets, like a Quake patch.
  • MySpeccy.com - an interesting site which allows you to compete with other Spectrum gamers, recording high scores etc.
  • Screen$ - A directory containing Spectrum (C64 & Amstrad) LOADing screens. Not as dull as it may sound...
  • ZX Speccy - a colourful and interesting site, celebrating the ZX Spectrum with features on characters, games reviews & Spectrum quizzes
  • ZX Spectrum games after 1993 - Tarjan Richard Gabor's review of Spectrum games covering 1993 onwards. It has a particularly interesting focus on the gaming history of ex-USSR, Eastern and Western Europe. There are numerous screen shots and links to expore.

Other Retro sites of interest:
  • CPC Zone - home of all things to do with the 8bit Amstrad computer. A great site with loads of reviews, cover scans and a lot more.
  • Digital Arcade - Website featuring retro arcade games, cabinets and other retro goodness
  • Lemon Amiga - Kim Lemon's site dedicated to the Amiga. I'd recommend a visit if you've got an interest in Amiga gaming
  • Lemon 64 - the (older) sister site to Lemon Amiga. Well worth a visit if you're into the C64.
  • Peoww - written by nostalgic types for nostalgic types. A magazine-style gaming site, featuring news and features for a variety of machines. It's a good, high quality read, even if you're not necessarily a fan of, say, the XB360. The features section is great.
  • Retrogamers - Norwich Retro Gamers - rediscovering gaming history in Norwich, Norfolk and beyond!
  • Retro 247 Games - Download Games with Old School Game play. Featuring Retro Remakes, Freeware, Games for Windows and the Mac
