There's not much to go on with Fire Desire. All there is in the WoS archive is a .tap file and some publisher / author details. One of the authors (The Gasman) has produced ten Spectrums listed on WoS, four of which being games (as opposed to scene demos). All of which, including Fire Desire, are classed as Missing in Action.
Fire Desire is a horizontally-scrolling SEU. It's a colourful and noisy demo, though somewhat bereft in enemies to zap. The 'noise' I refer to is actually a good tune, which plays throughout the game. It does, to the detriment of any spot effects, which simply might not have been inputted into the game at the point of the demo's release. As the Fire Desire demo is quite limited, there's not much to go on. There are only a few enemies to shoot, no power-ups to collect or use. As mentioned earlier, they simply may not have been included at this point. On the other hand, perhaps that was intentional. Perhaps we'll never know. The game has promise; certainly it isn't as polished as the Atomic Robo-Kid or Armalyte demos, (which to be fair, were to be commercial released back in the Speccy's heyday) but that doesn't mean it couldn't have been as playable. |
